Skype…

It allows me to video chat with my kids and my grandkids over the internet. I am so thankful for this technology. I stay connected with the “little people” in my life and enjoy the silliness they love to display whenever they see me on the computer screen. They like to show me their toys, and run around after each other…they laugh and act silly and one little man in particular likes to jump up and down on the couch. This, of course, is not allowed but something about seeing GiGi on the computer excites him. He’s only two. I guess since I am not right there physically in the room he feels the need to yell my name…every single time. He yells, very loudly, “Hi GiGi”….over and over. He blows me kisses and we talk about Thomas…the train, of course. Lola is reserved and quiet most of the time. She wants me to read to her or have Pops play the guitar while she and Henry dance around the room to their favorite “Pop Corn” song. Occasionally, she shows off her gymnastic skills.. .like a forward roll or a split.

We have been doing this form of communication for several years now. I have watched birthday parties, play dates, dinner time and even bath time. I am usually the one who wants to video chat…until recently…things have changed…

Lola, to my surprise, now wants to video chat with me every day. This has been going on for the past week. I am delighted. Her mom tells me that she is even asking to talk to me when she first wakes up…I am feeling oh so special.

She tells her mommy, “I want to talk to GiGi on the computer.” I can hardly wait to get home and see her. Last Saturday evening I was resting on the couch. I had just started a diet a few days prior. I am feeling very motivated and even started an exercise program. This is it! Finally I’m ready to do this…exercise, eat right, feel good thing…and then she calls…and it goes like this…

Lola: “Hi GiGi”
Me: “Hi Lola…how are you?”
Lola: “Fine”
Me: “That’s good”
Then she moves forward…looking closer at the screen…
I look at her smiling…

Then she says… “GiGi…you’re getting big”

Well…hmmm…"big"…like taller?…I don’t think so…Yes, I am even more motivated! Gotta love the innocence and honesty of children. Thank you Skype…Thank you Lola!

I hope you are having a Wonderful Wednesday…honesty Makes a Difference!
