Inspired by Donna Summer??...
I was driving to work this morning…listening to the radio. Donna Summer came on…”Last Dance”…I think everyone knows this song…”cause when I’m bad I’m so so baaadddd, so let’s dance, the last dance…” You can’t help it…you just start dancing in your seat. Left muscle, right muscle…you know what I’m talking about. It’s one of those songs that no matter where you are, or what you’re doing, you’ve got to move. It made me think…if this was my last dance how would I dance?
I like ballet…but I’m certainly no ballerina…and tap…I did that when I was five…Hip Hop is intense…I just can’t move like that…and disco…I took disco lessons back in the late 70’s…I wasn’t that good…and I watch dancing with stars and only wish I could lift my legs like that…I love the electric slide and when I hear it…no matter where I am…I’m going to jump up and do it…the twist is easy…it’s a classic…my husband and I took dance lessons once…we learned the waltz…the quick version…he likes to tell people that the instructor told him how bad he was…he definitely gave it his best effort.
My mother’s generation loved to jitter bug, swing dance, do the pony and the mashed potato and of course slow dance. I was a chaperone at both of my children’s prom…I couldn’t help but stare and watch…and found myself feeling a bit shocked at some of those dance moves.
I love to dance…I love to watch people dance. I love the way it makes you feel. There is something about dancing that makes you smile. I don’t believe that you can dance and not feel good.
So I wonder…how would I dance?
I wish you all a Wonderful Wednesday with thoughts of dancing and the happiness it brings that makes a difference!
