I went to bed last night laughing. My mother called me when I got home from work. She, again, could not find something that she hid in her house. She does this all the time. She really has good intentions and thinks she has the perfect place for her "things" that she doesn't want to misplace or loose. So she hides them. The problem is, she hides her "things" so well that she can never find them. She called to see if I could possibly help her to think of where she thinks I think she would have put it. Oh my gosh, I thought to myself, her brain and my brain think waaayyyy differently. I consider myself an extremely organized person...my mother on the other hand, well, is not. So when she asked for my help...what was I to do? I wanted to laugh and say, "you've got to be kidding, it could be anywhere in your house." She sounded like she really needed my help, so I just started naming places in her house..."did you put it in the dining room hutch, how about in the bottom drawer of the hutch, is it in your desk? what about your bedroom? have you looked all over your bedroom?....of course I had no idea what her thoughts were when she hid this special "thing"...after many suggestions, and a half hour later, she gave up and said, "well I'm sure you'll find it when I'm gone, among other things"...and she laughed.

About an hour later, my phone rings...it's my mom...she is laughing on the other end, she could hardly catch her breath. Mom, what's so funny, I asked. She said, you're not going to believe it, it was in the cabinet right where it should have been in the first place. We both knew that it needed to be hidden, that it shouldn't be right where it "should be," if you don't want anyone to find it. So I quickly said, Mom, why don't you hide it in your underwear drawer, that way when you can't find it again you can ask me and I'll tell you. I'll definately remember that hiding place. She was mortified, no, I couldn't she proclaimed. I couldn't hide it there. Hmmmm...I thought...where...where could I remember if she asks me years from now. How about one of your purses? She liked that. All of a sudden she said, "Straw"...that's the word. I was confused. I thought we were talking about purses. Huh...what are you talking about. Straw...remember straw...it will be in my straw purse, she said. Will she remember? Heck, am I going to remember? Will you remember? Because when my mom asks me where her "thing" is, and I don't remember, I'm going to ask you. "Straw"...please remember it!!

I hope you all have a Wonderful Wednesday...full of thoughts of special things...special places...and maybe a code word or two between someone you love.

Thank you for being special to me...

Together we are making a difference!
